History of the program
Fundraising for the Toy Program started at the Burquitlam Plaza Safeway – Because We Care in the fall of 2005. With the funds raised the Auxiliary purchased “Bobblers” and hand puppets. While a hit with the children they were seasonal and not always available. In 2006 with their first donation of Teddy Bears from the BC Liquor store (Westwood). They Auxiliary added a new function to this program. The Trauma Bear program was born.
The auxiliary supplies: Stickers, puzzles, Colouring books and other items to emergency and day surgery areas to assist in calming children as needed.
